Markedly Radical Autism Awareness

Meet Zeke Fuller! Zeke, now 9 years old, has found fishing to be his zen from Autism. Fishing truly has become therapy for him. It has been the catalyst to him finding real passion and joy.

Zeke has found a way to channel his energy into learning techniques and developing his social skills. He used to be afraid to try to speak to others. After discovering fishing, he began to WANT to speak to others. As time progressed, he began to seek people out to converse with. Fishing, in general, has become his way to communicate with peers and with teachers at school. It’s been a motivational tool and a bridge to common ground. He has learned how to spot someone who may share the same interests and how to start a conversation with them. With the support he’s had from the fishing community, he has become excited to show others his gear and has shared it with anyone interested in it. He has enjoyed teaching anyone who wanted to learn about every technique for every bait. Teaching has become a powerful skill for Zeke to help him interact and engage with others. It’s become his prominent social skill.

His father, Glen Fuller, is doing an awesome job getting Zeke and even his younger brother, Ezra, to the water as much as possible. He’s acquired a large support group from the fishing community. Most of that support has come from #ZekeWeek . It was started by their great friend and bait maker, Brad Hardy ( @bradhardy ) of Oracle Lures (www.oraclelures.com ).

Zeke has a big heart and has a huge passion for fishing. At only 9 years old, he already knows he wants to be a professional bass angler! More so, he wants to make a living fishing, creating videos and teaching others. How cool is that?!

We truly appreciate your time. If you do choose to be a part of #ZekeWeek, please remember that this is about helping Zeke build relationships. Any contribution MUST contain a personal note or letter for Zeke. This is of the utmost importance. The Fullers and, especially Zeke, wish to thank you in advance.
